Where We're Working

We are currently building in Dinwiddie/West Petersburg, across from three houses we previously built.  We build on Saturdays and our "retired group" works on Thursday mornings.  If you are interested in helping, call our office and leave a message as to your interest in volunteering.

Directions to current building sites on Greensville Ave. in Dinwiddie/West Petersburg:

From Petersburg, take I-85 South.  Take exit 63B, Rt. 1 North.
Go approximately 1/2 mile and turn left onto Greensville Ave.  The building sites are approximately 1/2 mile on the left.

Below are pictures of work in progress on the Pocahontas Project, one of our previous project, taken August 24th, 2001.

Once the forms were up, the concrete was poured in between.  These pictures were taken on the day the concrete was poured.

We now work with the Concrete Builders Association to build all of our houses with concreteWe build using Styrofoam forms, Eco Blocks, (pictured below) into which concrete is poured.  When it sets up, the forms serve as extra insulation.  It's much more energy efficient and lasts indefinitely (check the Romans!).  Interior walls are framed and drywall is used...outside, siding can be affixed to furring strips.

We work on Saturdays and Thursdays.  We'd love to have your help and fellowship!  Construction is going on now and we need volunteers to help with building.  If you would like to help, call our office at 732-5793, to let us know that you or your group would like to volunteer.
