Building Committee:
Responsible for supervising and managing the building of houses.
We build on Saturdays and Thursday mornings. Contact our Volunteer
Coordinator if you are interested (listed on the Contacts page).

Family
Partnership Committee:
This committee is responsible for working with partner families from the time the family
has been accepted, through building and after the family takes possession of the house. An
advocate for the family works with the family on individual needs, to include establishing
a budget, preparing for closing and anticipating what will be needed as a new homeowner.
Family Nurture hosts events and training opportunities for partner families which will
assist the family in home ownership.

Family Selection Committee:
The Mission of the Family Selection committee is to recommend to the Board of Directors
prospective partner families who meet all three criteria for Partnership with Tri-Cities
Habitat for Humanity: Need, the Ability to Pay, and the Willingness to Partner.
The Family Selection Committee operates within the spirit and the letter of the
Virginia Fair Housing Law.
This committee needs people who are interested in:
- conducting home visits (4 hours per month per person)
- working with paper work (4-6 hours per month per person)
- distributing applications at accessible locations in the Tri-Cities area (2-4
hours per month per person)

Fund Raising Committee:
This committee is responsible for raising the necessary funds for building the
houses and operation. Each house costs approximately $35,000 to
build. They try to find new and exciting and well as some old and not-so
exciting ways to raise this money. This committee needs people who are
willing to participate in fund raising activities as well as innovative people
who have ideas. Some fund-raising activities have included selling cookbooks, t-shirts and
pins, a
holiday "in honor" gift program, the annual Easter Walk,

Public Relations Committee:
Responsible for putting together the Tri-Cities HFH newsletter. Also responsible for
contacting local newspaper, radio and TV stations to promote events and HFH in general.
Provides guest speakers to organizations who want to find out more about Habitat.

Site Selection Committee:
Responsible for finding and acquiring properties for new construction or rehabilitation.
They also are responsible for maintaining all current properties awaiting
construction.
